Montay Marquese McLaurin was the son of Quintella Jones and Michael McLaurin. Born on July 20th 1994 his big personality and infectious smile drew in people of all walks of life. In additionto his natural charm, he was a kindhearted and respectful young man to everyone he encountered.
Tay, as he was affectionately called, graduated from Confluence Academy High School with honors. He was so smart, he attended Robotics Engineering in 8th grade at the University of Missouri-Saint Louis. To further his career as an independent entrepreneur, He became a Forex Trader, Videographer/Photographer and Artist. He had a niche for art and a passion for drawing. He also developed a love for the art of music. He often spent time developing his craft in music. He pursued many business ventures alongside his mother. He later attended Missouri State University to further pursue a career as an entrepreneur. He was a very independent and maverick minded. Montay loved his family and friends. He was the life of the party and was quite the joker. He
loved playing jokes on everyone. He was also a voice of reason and the peacemaker, but he had to have the final say. He enjoyed sports and played them as well. He participated in baseball, soccer, and basketball. He often would watch sports with his dad. He also was a gamer. He enjoyed playing various games with his friends.
Montay was a father. His legacy will live on through his son M.J., Montay McLaurin, Jr. He
cherished every moment spent with his son. He was very hands on and specific about his
parenting. He was big on education. He enjoyed reading and teaching his son. He was a very supportive and protective father. He was big on educating “MJ” in every facet. From teaching him to talk and walk to playing the sports he loved-He was very involved. He enjoyed taking “MJ” on long walks, watching and making Youtube videos; spending quality father and son time. His purpose was to instill kindness, respect, strength, and aptitude into his son.
On April 29th 2023, Montay transitioned. He succumbed to Substance Use Disorder. A day that will be always remembered. His beautiful spirit and laugh will be forever heard by those who loved him. In his honor and name, the Montay McLaurin Foundation was founded. His legacy will also live in touching the lives of others who have experienced the effects of addiction through advocacy and education.
